About the test result

What does the result of this test mean?

  • In the case of a negative test result, it means that you do not have chlamydia and that no treatment is required.
  • In the case of a positive test result, this means that chlamydia has been found and that antibiotics are needed to treat it. For your own health and to prevent the spread of infection to others, it is important that you receive prompt treatment if you are found to have an STD.

In the case of a positive test result, you can take the test results to your own doctor for treatment. You should also warn all your sexual partners to further prevent the spread of STDs. They can then have themselves tested and, if necessary, be treated. This can also be done anonymously via partnerwaarschuwing.nl (in the Netherlands only).

Background information

Chlamydia

Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis. The bacteria can cause infection of the urethra, cervix, rectum or throat. The infection can spread to the epididymis in men and to the uterus or fallopian tubes in women. Left untreated, this increases the risk of infertility and ectopic pregnancy. If a woman has chlamydia during pregnancy, she can also infect her baby during delivery without proper management. This can lead to an eye and respiratory tract infection in the baby. Chlamydia is a very common STD and is usually treatable with antibiotics.

I am very positive about the diabetes test I bought from Homed-IQ! The actual testing process is easy and the doctor's result was clear. A great solution for me. I think everyone should have access to tests like the diabetes test, because it gives a lot of information. Homed-IQ makes that possible!

Overall experience was excellent. But the processing time was a bit long, maybe it was because I only ordered late Friday evening. The rest of the process went well.

The test was delivered within a day and I thought it was all easy to do, activating the test could perhaps be a little easier. At least I didn't have to go to the doctor or take a day off from work to get my blood checked or come back to a doctor's office for the results! It's quick and easy.

Shipping is very fast and the purchase process is well described in the supplied manual. It took me a maximum of five minutes to do. I knew it would be difficult for me to get to the doctor, especially because of COVID-19, so this was a lifesaver. It took 4 days to receive my results.

Anyone who is sexually active is at risk for sexually transmitted infections. If you are sexually active, it is important to use protection and get screened regularly. This is especially important if you have more than one sexual partner.

Safe sex reduces the risk of an STD, such as using a condom or dental dam during sexual intercourse or oral sex and cleaning sex toys. Even when using a condom, not all STDs can be completely prevented. Genital warts, syphilis, and genital herpes can also enter your body through your skin. Pubic lice or scabies can also be transmitted through skin or pubic hair.

HIV and Hepatitis B and C are transmissible through blood. This means that in order to become infected, body fluids such as blood, vaginal fluids or semen must enter the bloodstream. This can happen in various ways, such as through open sores, needle stick injuries, or tears in the skin from sexual contact. One cannot catch hepatitis or HIV through activities like hugging, sharing eating utensils, or sneezing/coughing.

For more information about safe sex, go to this website.

You should be tested if:

  • You are experiencing symptoms that may be consistent with an STD (However, many STDs do not cause any symptoms)
  • You have been notified by public health services or a sexual partner that someone you have had sexual contact with has an STD
  • You are with a new sexual partner and want to have unprotected intercourse
  • You have many/changing sexual partners
  • You are a man who has sexual contact with men
  • You are a sex worker

Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, and Trichomoniasis are some of the most common STDs worldwide. That is why it is very important that STDs are regularly tested for, so that further spread is limited.

You will receive extensive instructions with your test.

Every STD has an incubation period. This is the time between the actual infection and the moment that the STD is detectable by a test. From that moment on, the bacteria can be detected by a test.

STD Incubation Periods:

    • Chlamydia: 1-3 weeks, usually detectable after 14 days
    • Gonorrhea: 2-14 days
    • Trichomoniasis: 1 – 4 weeks, usually detectable after 21 days
    • Syphilis: 10 – 90 days, usually detectable after 28 days
    • HIV: 3 weeks – 3 months

You will receive the results within a few days of sending the sample to the laboratory.
